The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. The Book is by Sean Covey. I highly recommend this book for teens to read. The 7 Habits can help teens improve relationships, define values, make better decisions and increase their well being and happiness .
The 8th grade students will be making a Sock Monkey for their sewing project. Each student needs to bring in a pair of new or gently used socks. I will be placing an order for the Original Sock Monkey Socks the second week of the quarter. More information can be found in the attachment at the bottom of the page. All socks need to be at school by the 4rd week of the quarter. We are using the Original Rockford Red Heel Sock Monkey Directions. If interested, you can place your own order the Red Heel Socks from their website. www.foxsox.com
Students do not need to use the Red Heel socks. Striped socks, socks with prints etc. make great sock monkeys. Look for socks that have a different color on the toe and heel! You can also use any size socks but size small socks will work best. Tube socks do not work for this project. Black socks will work but are a little more difficult to mark sewing and cutting lines. Child Size socks are fine. Socks with a little stretch are fine but too much stretch is harder to work with. If you order Red Heel Socks please order the "Original" socks as they are the easiest for the students to work with and order a size small or child's size. You can see more samples of the Sock Monkeys as well as a picture of the Red Heel Sock in the slide show below. Also, check out Pinterest for lots of examples of Sock Monkeys. A copy of the parent letter and order form was given to the students and is also available from the drop down menu up above.
